Types of resources
There are physical resources consisting of computer hardware; software and database resources; and most importantly human resources. The support and training we provide have their own main sections on this web site.
The current focus in hardware provision is on a relatively small number of servers that have many cores (cpus) and high RAM (memory). These are suitable for a wide range of tasks in many research areas. In particular they facilitate some genome and transcriptome assemblies. They also provide TB scale storage for data being analysed.
The software in use increases and diversifies with time and newly required software is usually installed on demand.
There is a range of molecular sequence and structure databases available and users' private databases may be installed if required. Some users have controlled access to data servers via web interfaces to analyse or share data.
